Former Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist tenor Manase Latu won the DMMF Napier Aria over Easter weekend, singing Tradito Schernito from Cose fan tutte by Mozart, and Una furtive lagrima from L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti.

Current Dame Malvina Emerging artist baritone Will King, came second, with mezzo-soprano Deborah Rogers in third place.

The Aria competition was held as part of the Easter Performing Arts Competitions Festival, with 24 singers from across the country entering the aria competition and six finalists selected.

Aria Convenor Diane Hopson said the weekend had been truly fantastic.

“It was a very difficult choice for Amanda Atlas (the adjudicator) on both the preliminary round and the final.”
