Oliver Sewell to take up principal tenor role at Theater Bremen

Oliver Sewell as Edgardo in Wellington Opera's Lucia di Lammermoor

Dame Malvina Major Award recipient Oliver Sewell will move to Germany in August to take up a position of principal tenor at Theater Bremen.

“In my first season I will be singing Robert Wilson in Doctor Atomic, Orpheus in Orpheus in the Underworld, Tito in La clemenza di Tito,  and Narraboth in Salome. I am looking forward to the challenge musically and culturally.

“The Dame Malvina Major Award assisted me last year when I auditioned for this position in October. The award now makes it possible for me to relocate to Germany with relative ease – it allows me to take time off to learn German, prepare the new roles and for organising all the details for a relocation back overseas after three years in New Zealand!”
