The Project Prima Volta Chorus in Festival Opera's production of Carmen
Recognising the Dame Malvina Major Foundation’s and Festival Opera’s shared ambition to help develop young singers at a grassroots level, we have partnered to support the Dame Malvina Major Project Prima Volta Chorus, providing a unique platform for these fledgling artists to learn and grow alongside a cast of professional singers.

Project Prima Volta helps Hawke’s Bay teenagers to explore their unique potential within the context of sung performance. It supports up to 30 local teenagers each year, to experience the highs and lows of performance, develop language and musical skills and importantly, to be a supportive team player. Project Prima Volta provides a weekly platform for a wide range of new experiences, in a safe and supportive environment.
